Kudelski Internet of Things (IoT), a division of the Kudelski Group, designs and delivers security technologies and services to support companies across the IoT value chain in creating sustainably secure innovations. Location : Cheseaux, Switzerland
Mission
The Data Engineer is a member of the IoT operational team. The Data Engineer is responsible for collecting, analyzing and interpreting large amounts of data (from a large variety of sources such as IoT devices and backends), developing models to identify potential issues, understanding system usage and addressing reporting needs. This individual is also responsible for building, deploying, and maintaining data support tools, inventories and definitions for database creation.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain big data processing pipelines using AWS tools and services
- Perform data analysis, transformation engineering, and feature engineering on large and complex datasets
- Design, implement, and validate statistical models to generate insights from the data
- Work closely with our business partners and stakeholders to identify and address business/technical needs and present synthesized findings, make recommendations
- Develop and maintain automated data pipelines and monitoring tools
- Create data visualizations and reports to communicate insights to stakeholders
- Research new data sources and analytical tools; contribute to new product development and improvement in product delivery and presentation
- Stay up to date with state-of-the-art data processing and analysis technologies.
Technical skills

- Strong understanding of statistical analysis and data modelling techniques
- Strong programming skills in Python or Scala, as well at ease with Git and shell
- Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or quick sight
- Familiarity with AWS and its big data services (e.g., EMR, Glue, S3) is a plus
- Familiarity with machine learning algorithms is a plus
- Understand product and propose recommendations based on data outcomes
- Experience with large scale IoT deployments and wireless protocols including LTE CAT M1, BLE, Wi-Fi, LoRa and UWB is an asset.
Profile / requirements
- An Engineer or related degree (Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or a related quantitative discipline) (EPF, Master or equivalent).
- Good critical sense with a team-player mindset
- Capacity to work autonomously and to take proper initiative
- Ability to work in a fast-moving environment
- Capacity to analyze and summarize (mainly in English)
- Fluent in English is a must, French language is a strong asset.
